included ideas about entering the diplomatic corps, the role of the U.N.
Security Council in today’s geopolitical environment, the rising influence of
authoritarian governments and the conflict in Ukraine. Ambassador Hogan
encouraged the delegates to pursue prestigious opportunities available in
this field, such as the Pickering, Rangel and Payne Fellowships, and said,
“As our president stated, we are in a global strategic competition between
democracies and authoritarian regimes and autocracies. To work in
diplomacy right now has never been more consequential.”
